Lately, I have been thinking about happiness,
What is happiness?
How do you know you are happy?
How do you measure happiness?
I realise , I don't need to look for happiness, I need to change some other things.
One of the things, I needed to do was to cultivate gratitude, everyday, now before I go to sleep I go through my gratitude list in my mind.
Apparently happiness has a gene and everyones gene is different, some hold more happiness, some less, whatever your gene has a capacity for , however big this gene is, that is how happy you can be. It's almost like a cup you can only fill it , as much as it will hold.
So I started thinking that, maybe ,you have to look at the quality of your happiness in your cup, only fill your cup with something of good quality. It's really like looking at your clutter.
I have realised recently, that I suffer from something called 'destination addiction, whenever, I achieve something, arrive somewhere, I cannot hold myself there , I am looking over the horizon for the next challenge, which is fine , but I need to enjoy the journey a little more and stay in the now, just to enjoy my achievments a little more. Take time to enjoy where you are, more time than you would normally.
This race we call life is so out of balance, was it wordsworth who said 'What is this life if full of care. we have no time to stand and stare'?
I would love to hear from you all, what you think, I am beginning to listen more to my spirit talking instead of my ego, how about you ?
love and light

The poem is by William Henry Davies and is called
'Leisure'
WHAT is this life if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare?—
No time to stand beneath the boughs,
And stare as long as sheep and cows:
No time to see, when woods we pass,
Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass:
No time to see, in broad daylight,
Streams full of stars, like skies at night:
No time to turn at Beauty's glance,
And watch her feet, how they can dance:
No time to wait till her mouth can
Enrich that smile her eyes began?
A poor life this if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.
WONDERFUL...and very apt in these fast-paced times!
